Jan Whitlock Textiles was started in 1999 in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, specializing in collector quality antique textiles and decorative accessories.
Jan Whitlock is known for superior and unusual antique quilts, pictorial quilts and early hooked and yarn sewn rugs. We handle extraordinary applique and embroidered blankets, quilts and table mats. Recent sales have included an important Broderie Perse Quilt, a Folk Art Quilting Bee, and a rare block printed counterpane to museum collections.
Jan has a degree in textile design, and began her career in the design department of a textile manufacturer. Over the next 25 years she worked her way up to the position of President of Marketing. She understands the process of making cloth of any type, and when looking at antique textiles, understands the elements of the construction that few others do. Combined with years in design and merchandising, she can display and mix patterns with the skills that come from having worked around them for so much of her life.
This background led to the formation of Jan Whitlock Textiles, and the subsequent interior design portion of the business. We exhibit at major shows throughout the Northeast, and at our shop in the 1835 Hannah Cheever house in Historic Sugartown, Malvern, Pennsylvania.
